Application Procedure

To apply for the Master's Degree Program in Science or Mathematics Education you must complete application materials for both the Graduate School and the Department:

Application materials to complete for the Graduate School

1.  See: http://oregonstate.edu/admissions/graduate/reqdocuments.html. The department major codes to use when applying for admission are 6100 for Science Education and 5620 for Mathematics Education.

2. Compile these materials and send in one packet to:

 1. Create a Cover Sheet with the following information (if you have questions refer to http://smed.science.oregonstate.edu/ for details on the program)
  •  Name
  •  Degree seeking (MS)
  •  Area (Science Education or Mathematics Education)
  •  Concentration (K-12 or Free-Choice)
2. Letter of interest in which you elaborate on the statement of objectives written for the Graduate School application. This letter is a very important part of your application and should present a thoughtful response (2-3 pages long, single-spaced) to the following questions:
  • Detail the nature of your experiences in your educational context of interest (e.g. public school, college teaching, free-choice learning venue such as museum, nature center or community-based organization) for this degree.
  •  What are your career goals and how will this degree support them?
  •  In what educational issues are you interested in that this master's degree might help you pursue?
